ICONIC boxer Charles Manyuchi has thrown his full weight behind two rising boxers, Tatenda “Signature”  Biningu and Evans “Vanzo” Usavihwevhu, who go hunting for WBF titles this Saturday.

The highly-rated Biningu headlines the bill in the Charles Manyuchi Boxing Academy tournament to be staged at the Phil-Jen Lodges in Chivhu.

He faces off Zambia’s Philimon Hara for the unified WBF and WABA super-bantamweight title in the main bout.

Biningu, who made his professional debut in 2019, is still a greenhorn in the trenches, having been in the ring just thrice where he has won twice and lost once.

But there is no doubting his talent and exploits which face a stern test against Hara.

On the other hand, another of the academy’s prodigy, Usavihwevhu, will tackle Yohane Banda for the WBF lightweight title.

The 27-year-old is still building his name in the sport and look so determined to leave a lasting impression.

He has 12 fights under his belt to which 11 are wins, six by knock-outs, and only a single defeat.

Manyuchi, himself a holder of the WBF title, tipped the pair to win the belts.

“Look, boxing is a tough sport and one need to have prepared well to stand a chance of winning a contest,” Manyuchi said.

“I have seen Biningu and Usavihwevhu training not for these fights but all their professional lives.

“These are some of the best fighters we have in the country right now.

“All things being equal, they will win their respective fights.

“I am convinced they are well-conditioned for these fights. They can build their names and look forward to more success.”

Manyuchi Boxing Academy director, Prosper Chibaya, said all is set for the international tournament.

“The stage is set for the event. We have nine bouts on the bill including two international title fights,” said Chibaya.

“We will have a weigh-in early Friday and the boxers will rest until the competition on Saturday night.

“We are looking forward to a successful event.”
