A 48-YEAR-OLD Beitbridge man was on Monday dragged to court for allegedly raping his 14-year-old stepdaughter. The man was not asked to plead to one count of rape when he appeared before Beitbridge resident magistrate Miss Gloria Takundwa. He was remanded in custody to next Friday. Prosecutor Miss Nomathemba Sayi told the court that between January and December last year, the man attempted to have sexual intercourse with the complainant on several occasions, but she resisted.

She said on Wednesday last week at around 1am, he ordered the girl and her mother who were sleeping outside, to join him in the bedroom, where his wife slept between him and the minor.

After a while, the man chased his wife out threatening to kill her if she resisted. He then locked her outside before raping the girl . once and unlocked the door again.
