People living with disability have been urged to vote for Zanu-PF and its leader President Mnangagwa in the forthcoming harmonised elections slated for July 30, for their welfare to be improved. Addressing hundreds of people living with disabilities during a campaign meeting organised by Zanu-PF Masvingo Urban National Assembly candidate Cde Taguma Mazarire at Mucheke Hall, the ruling party patron for people with disability, Cde Joshua Malinga said the new dispensation led by President Mnangagwa was sensitive to their plight.

Cde Malinga, who is also a Zanu-PF Politburo member, said President Mnangagwa and his administration’s sensitivity to the plight of people living with disability was shown by the creation of a desk in Government and at party level to deal with disability issues.

He said Government and Zanu-PF were seized with disability issues and promoted inclusive education where pupils with disabilities were allowed to learn together with their able-bodied counterparts.

“I implore you as my constituency here in Masvingo to vote for Zanu-PF and President Mnangagwa in the forthcoming harmonised elections,” said Cde Malinga.

He said people with disability constituted at least two percent of the population and deserved to have their concerns addressed as a matter of urgency.

“As your patron, I have declared that there should be inclusive education in our schools where those with disabilities learn with others with no disabilities,” said Cde Malinga.

“We should be treated equally in this country and our Government is mindful of that as you have seen there are programmes which the President has proffered, specifically to address challenges of disabilities.

“I have also mobilised a consignment of rice and maize grain for you which will be delivered soon. All the 10 provinces will benefit.”

Masvingo provincial patron for people with disability and Mushandike High School head, Mrs Rosewita Mudarikwa, who is visually-impaired, hailed Cde Malinga’s visit to the province, saying it showed Zanu-PF had the interests of people living with disability at heart.

“We are happy to be visited by our patron Cde Malinga,” she said. This shows that Government and the party Zanu-PF have our welfare at heart. We also want to thank our Zanu-PF Masvingo Urban National Assembly candidate, Major Mazarire (Rtd) who has convened this meeting.

“My plea to Cde Malinga is that our concerns should be addressed.”
Cde Mazarire in his remarks said the new dispensation had brought a lot of positive changes, saying people should vote resoundingly for Zanu-PF in the forthcoming harmonised elections.

“Within a short space of time you can see there are many positive changes that the new dispensation led by our President Cde Mnangagwa has brought,” he said.

“It is due to this administration’s efforts that people with disability are having their challenges addressed and I am committed to assisting you.

“My fervent hope is that you will all vote for our party Zanu-PF, President ED and myself as your MP and all our 10 councillors here in Masvingo Urban.”
