Malajila joins club owned by teenager Cuthbert Malajila

DURBAN. — Zimbabwe international forward, Cuthbert Malajila, has joined a South African lower league side led by a 19-year-old owner.

He was unveiled by GladAfrica Championship outfit, Royal AM FC, here yesterday.

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, Kabelo Mahlasela, was also added to the squad.

Businesswoman Shauwn Mpisane bought club’s franchise and is renaming it Royal AM FC, with her 19-year-old son, Andile, appointed the youngest chairman in the history of the two top leagues in South African football.

Andile, a former midfielder, is set to become the youngest club owner in league history here. In 2018, he was registered as a Royal Eagles player and made only one appearance. Former Highlands Park director Sinki Mnisi has also been roped in as the club’s new chief executive officer.

Mahlasela, 29, was relegated with Polokwane City last season and has now returned to KwaZulu-Natal, having made his name with Bloemfontein Celtic.

Malajila, 35, was last on the books of Black Leopards, but left the club in January this year. Former Highlands Park director, Mnisi, the club’s CEO, revealed that more new players will be revealed before the coming season, including some former Lions of the North players.

“Very much close, we are finalising the remaining players,” Mnisi said yesterday.

“They are there including former Highlands Park players, two of them are here now. Siphamandla Ncanana and Khulekani Shezi are already here.” — KickOff.com
