Asking yourself why?

Sometimes you need to ask yourself, “Do I really want that something?”

If I do, then why have I not been taking steps to attain the things I desire?

For a long time, I have yearned for a body I feel comfortable in, yet for various reasons, I have not pursued it or taken the necessary steps.

Having an appealing physique would grant me confidence.  A body that enhances my self-assurance when I wear clothes, a body that resists disease.

Shedding those extra pounds can improve overall health and reduce the risks of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers.

A body I’m not compelled to hide beneath layers of clothing, especially during scorching summers.

A body that exudes self-assuredness, allowing me to confidently remove my shirt at the beach and boosting my self-esteem and confidence.

Losing weight can elevate energy levels, infusing life with vibrancy. It provides the vigour needed to engage with your children, instils a heightened sense of self, and contributes to a longer, more fulfilling life.

The act of shedding weight can, in fact, add more quality years to your life.

Do I really want this?

However, I then pose the question to myself: “Do I genuinely desire this transformed physique? “

If that were the case, I would already be taking the necessary actions to attain the outcomes I seek. If my longing for that body was authentic, it would hold utmost priority, and I wouldn’t allow myself to simply drift.

My days would be meticulously structured, even amidst a busy schedule, to accommodate workout sessions.

I would prioritise nourishing my body with wholesome meals, engaging in food preparation in advance.

Countless aspirations have graced my life, yet often I’ve fallen short of pursuing them wholeheartedly.

It’s become evident that sincere self-reflection is imperative. We must candidly inquire if we’re genuinely committing to the path that leads us to our desired objectives.

The game changer – making the decision

I think the biggest game changer for anyone is making the decision that you wish to make a change in your life to enable you to get the things you really want.

I am of the belief that one of the most transformative factors for anyone is the firm decision to effect a change in their life, aimed at realizing their genuine desires.

This shift necessitates a change in mindset. In my own journey, I grappled with weight loss challenges over an extended period.

My breakthrough came with a resolute decision: to become someone who places their health and well-being at the forefront.

Despite my demanding work schedule, I committed to carving out time for physical activity and consuming nourishing meals.

I consciously embraced healthier methods to manage stress, choosing avenues like exercise or meditation over indulging in unhealthy food or alcohol.”

Such decisions are monumental, a testament to one’s determination to reshape their life.  They embody the essence of prioritisation and a commitment to change, reinforcing the adage that where there’s a will, there’s a way.”

What is your Why?

Each person’s circumstances are uniquely their own; our health and wellness goals, as well as the challenges we encounter, vary considerably.

With this diversity in mind, it’s vital to acknowledge that there isn’t a universal blueprint.  Rather, our paths are as distinct as our fingerprints, each requiring a tailored approach to transformation.

It’s worth investing a moment in contemplation, delving into the depths of your ‘why.’

What serves as your driving force towards enhanced well-being?

Why does shedding those extra kilos hold significance for you?

This introspection can serve as a compass, honing your focus to pinpoint accuracy and guiding your endeavours. By aligning your actions with your deeply-rooted motivations, you infuse your journey with purpose and unwavering dedication.

The goal becomes bigger than the obstacle.

Once you’ve firmly made up your mind, something incredible happens your goal becomes mightier than any obstacle in your path.

Those pesky cravings and excuses that used to derail you lose their grip.

You power through with a new found determination.

The old  “I’m too tired for the gym today” or  “It’s too chilly to go for a walk” just don’t hold sway anymore.

This decision is like a fierce warrior stance. It empowers you to weather any storm  be it rain, wind, or a gloomy mood.

It doesn’t matter how you feel or what the weather’s like; you’re locked into your mission. It’s worth taking a step back and reconnecting with your “why.”

What really fuels your drive to get healthier?

Why is shedding those extra kilos important to you?

Think of it as fine-tuning your compass it helps you navigate with precision and focus. Regardless of your specific reasons for wanting to lose weight, the key is to cling to that motivation when the going gets tough.

When hurdles seem insurmountable, your unshakeable ‘why’ acts as your anchor, propelling you forward. With your health and well-being at the forefront, this steadfast purpose becomes your driving force, propelling you unwaveringly towards your weight loss goals.
