A Harare woman set her husband ablaze before committing suicide following an unknown dispute.

Sources interviewed at the scene said that the woman only identified as Mai Kudzi sustained burns from the fire and later drank poison.

When The Herald visited the house at number 18 Whitehall road , Meyrick Park, Mai Kudzi’s body was still lying outside the yard.

A close neighbour who identified herself as Mai Kamuti said the incident occurred at around 2am when they heard a male voice crying for help.

“I heard cries of a male voice shouting for help while I was in bed and woke up my husband thinking that it was our security guard who was being attacked outside.

“When we went outside we discovered the husband and Mai Kudzi lying outside the house holding each other and the husband crying for help,” explained Mai Kamuti.

The neighbours called fire brigade who put out the fire while the husband was taken to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.
