Klopp basks in glory Jurgen Klopp

MANCHESTER. – Jurgen Klopp believes Liverpool beat the best side in the world in dispatching Manchester City in the Champions League soccer.

Liverpool stormed into the last four of the Champions League with a stunning 5-1 aggregate victory over Manchester City.

They led 3-0 from the first leg and managed to win 2-1 at the Etihad after weathering the storm in the first half.

Gabriel Jesus scored inside two minutes and City looked to have Liverpool on the ropes throughout the opening 45 minutes.

They were denied a good goal when Leroy Sane’s effort was chalked off for off-side despite James Milner playing the ball towards his goal.

And Raheem Sterling had two penalty shouts turned down when Andrew Robertson pushed him and then hauled him down.

Pep Guardiola was sent to the stands at the break after venting his fury towards the referee but Klopp says Liverpool deserve their spot in the semi-finals.

“I really think they are the best team in the world at the moment but I knew we could beat them,” he said.

“We completely deserve to be in the semi-finals.

“You can imagine Pep (Guardiola) was not happy with the (disallowed goal) but we’ve scored five goals against Man City and only conceded one. These numbers are usually not possible.

“We are now in the semis and first of all we should enjoy the moment because it’s obviously a while ago that Liverpool were in the semis. It was a while ago that I was in the semis!

“Now we are there together – so that’s quite a cool moment and I’m really happy about it.”

Liverpool will find out their semi-final opponents tomorrow morning when they could be paired with Roma, Bayern Munich, Sevilla, Real Madrid or Juventus.

Guardiola play an ultra-attacking formation with only three defenders and Fernandinho sweeping between defence and midfield.

And Klopp was delighted his side came up with the answer. – The Daily Express.
