the group after three years in the wilderness.
The nomadic but talented singer severed ties with the group in 2008 after Sam “Chamangwana” Ndingindi, the director of the band, gave him the marching orders for insubordination.

Since then, “King Vevela” has been making spirited efforts to rejoin the group with Chamangwana insisting that BV Labien Musica would go on with or without “King Vevela” in its ranks.
But the affable director had a change of heart and decided to re-admit the artiste into the group.
Chamangwana said the fallout between King Vevela and the group was now a thing of the past, adding that the most important thing at the moment was that the group was now united.

“We realised that this is where he actually belongs. As you know, the guy has been trying for many years to be re-admitted into the band and we finally realised the importance of different talents and decided to bring him back to beef up the other talents that are already in the group.
“He actually told us that he had realised his mistakes and we welcomed him. He is doing well and has gelled well with the other members,” Chamangwana said.

Chamangwana also revealed that “King Vevela” and the rest of the band had started rehearsing their new album, that will feature one of the country’s leading music groups.
“King Vevela”, who recently visited the Herald offices in the company of the band’s new manager, Thulani Moyo, was over the moon over Chamangwana’s decision to rehire him.

“BV Labien Musica is my home and I realised that it was better for me if I returned to my roots.
“I rejoined BV Labien Musica two months ago at the same period that the group also hired a new manager (Moyo).

“I returned after Mudhara (Chamangwana) and the entire team accepted me and gave me a warm welcome. Whatever happened in the past is now water under the bridge and I am glad for that,” King Vevela said.
During his absence from the group he said that he had the opportunity to play with a number of various rhumba groups but still realised he had a role to play in BV Labien Musica.

“I have experienced a lot of things working with a number of Congolese outfits but I realised that Zimbabwe has great talent.
“By rejoining BV Labien Musica we are going back to our roots not only as a group that is intact and a force to reckon with but one that is also going back to its followers and venues,” he said.
