TAUYA KASU and Enelisa Nkiwane have been crowned champions of the men and women categories at the Chief of Staff All-Comers Shoot competition. The event ended Cleveland Range in Harare yesterday.

Both Kasu and Nkiwane won their first major tournaments.

Kasu won the event after amassing 215 points as Nkiwane won the event at 190 points.

“I am now looking forward to the next event and I will keep working hard at training,’’ Kasu said.  “The sport is very good and it is good to see it grow.

“I worked hard for the result on the range and I give credit to my qualified military senior instructor who nurtured me to become a very good shootist.

“I started on a low note in the opening rounds but found my feet in the final rounds.

“I am now looking forward to the Skill at Arms and the Presidential Medal Shooting competitions and I believe I will do well again.’’

Nkiwane was also a happy athlete.

“It feels good to win such an event and it marks the start of good things to come,’’ she said.

“As the opening event on the calendar, it gives me confidence for the upcoming contests which I am now looking forward to.

“We also worked as a team as we managed to win some events and that encourages me a lot,” said Nkiwane.

The best civilian team event was won by Esau Sibanda Machona in the men’s category while Harare City’s Agnes Godza took the women honours.

The 2020 edition drew participants from the ZNA, ZRP, Airforce of Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service, President’s Department and other non-uniformed competitors.
