Blessings Chidakwa in Kadoma
Kadoma City Council has embarked on a $1 million road rehabilitation exercise expected to cover urban and rural areas over three months.

The company contracted to do the job started last week, with the city centre getting top priority.

Upon completion of the city centre, the company will then rehabilitate other roads including Sanyati, Eiffel Flats, Mutarimanja, Marandu, Westview, Ngezi and Banda roads.

In an interview yesterday, the mayor Councillor Muchineripi Chinyanganya said the road rehabilitation exercise would take about three months to complete.

“We contracted a company called Exodus. It is supposed to finish the road rehabilitation exercise by October 31,” he said.

A site visit done by this reporter around the city’s major roads over the weekend revealed some remarkable work that was being done as the company was working even on Sunday trying to meet its target.

The company has since completed patching potholes on major roads in the city centre including Cameroon Square.

The $1,02 million availed to Kadoma by Government is part of the over $9 million channelled to Mashonaland West province as a whole under the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme (ERRP).

The funds are part of this year’s Zimbabwe National Roads Administration’s (zinara) $232 million allocated for road maintenance and rehabilitation projects countrywide.
