JUST IN: Tobacco marketing season starts tomorrow

The 2020 tobacco marketing season officially starts tomorrow with the official opening ceremony expected to be held at the Tobacco Sales Floor (TSF).
The Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board has expressed satisfaction with the level of preparedness of all auction floors’ premises and their compliance to Covid-19 preventive measures.
Both the tobacco industry and farmers have confirmed their readiness for the opening of the tobacco selling season although low volumes of the crop are expected on the market during the first two days of the sale.
This marketing season is going to be different from the past years. Unlike the past seasons were the opening was associated with large crowds including farmers and their family members, stakeholders in the industry, vendors and business people among others, the number of people at the floors will now be minimised to reduce the spread of Covid 19 pandemic.
