The Institute of Corporate Directors Zimbabwe (ICDZ) has named the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Resettlement, Dr John Basera, as the Young Corporate Director for the year 2020.

ICDZ is a private organisation established to ensure that most people who run businesses follow good corporate governance principles.
Dr Basera thanked ICDZ for the recognition saying he owed everything to the great team he was working with at the Ministry.

“It is with great pleasure to learn that I have been honoured by the Institute of Corporate Directors Zimbabwe in this way. I owe this recognition to my great team at Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Resettlement.

It is an awesome privilege to serve with such great and incredible minds. I must say the dedication, hard work and the team spirit at the Ministry is incredible. We are raring to do more till every agricultural livelihood is sustainably empowered. With such an incredible team, I have no doubt that Vision 2030 will be achieved, even much earlier, he said.

“If we get agriculture right, then we are on the right track to get everything else right. Our conviction is that agriculture is four times more powerful at reducing poverty amongst the general populace, more than any other sector.

“All eyes, hands, efforts, sweat, blood and focus, really, are on the ultimate end game, Vision 2030 as eloquently enunciated by the President, E.D. Mnangagwa,” he said.
