LONDON. — Roy Keane has said that Jose Mourinho is a “disgrace” for trying to shake hands with managers before matches have finished. As Keane officially launched his new autobiography “The Second Half” on Thursday, he took a swipe at the Chelsea manager after an incident at Stamford Bridge last month.

Chelsea manager Mourinho attempted to shake hands with Keane, the Aston Villa and Republic of Ireland assistant manager, before the final whistle.

Both Keane and Villa boss Paul Lambert refused Mourinho’s gesture as they wanted to wait until the end of the game. Chelsea won 3-0.

“I wasn’t impressed because the game is still going on,” said Keane. “It’s disgraceful, I’ve seen him doing it to other managers, it is a disgrace.

“The game is still going on. You wouldn’t do that on a Sunday morning, you would get knocked out.”

Asked if he thought the action was disrespectful and arrogant, Keane added: “What do you think? That’s a stupid question. Yeah.”

Keane is not a huge admirer of Mourinho despite the Portuguese manager’s success.

He said: “I’m not sure I would have liked to play for him.

“He plays too many games with the media. I know there is a need for games but there comes a point you think ‘don’t play games today’.

“And poking the Barcelona coach (Tito Vilanova) in the eye, I wouldn’t have done that.”

On the topic of his former manager Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, Keane believes he is a control freak who people are afraid to stand up to.

Keane, the ex-United captain, revealed his side of the story of how he left Old Trafford in 2005 in the book and how he called Ferguson and then chief executive David Gill “f****** p*****”.

He did not hold back at the unveiling his second book, 12 years after his first one, which he claimed has been released to hit back at those who told “a pack of lies” about him.

Although the Irishman did not directly claim Ferguson was one of the liars, he believes the Scot is power mad and wrong for criticising the people who delivered him “millions of pounds”. And also those who helped him get the statue and stand named in his honour at Old Trafford, which Keane refused to attend the unveiling of despite receiving an invitation.

Ferguson described Keane’s strongest body part as his “tongue” in his own latest book.

Keane said: “He was never critical when we were winning trophies and he was getting his new contracts.”

Meanwhile, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti admits the dressing room was riddled with division under his predecessor Mourinho.

Mourinho is reported to have clashed with a number of first-team players during his time at the Bernabeu, having been involved in a training ground spat with Sergio Ramos and a public falling out with club captain Iker Casillas. And Ancelotti has now revealed there were “lots of problems” under the Portuguese, but says he found nothing but peace when he arrived in the Spanish capital.

“Before I arrived I was aware that there were lots of problems in the dressing room — problems between some players and Mourinho,” Ancelotti told So Foot.

“Everything that happened in private would end up in the papers the next day.

“But when I took charge, everything had returned to calm. I didn’t inherit any tensions.

“Was I responsible for returning peace to the dressing room? No, no. When I arrived there was already a lot of serenity.” — The Daily Express.
