After a year of controversy and topping the charts, Zim Dancehall artistes Soul Jah Love and Tocky Vibes have lined up a joint New Year’s Eve party at Kadoma’s Odyssey Club starting at 8pm. The gig which is set to usher revellers into 2015 will see the two headliners performing back-to-back non-stop.

Besides Soul Jah Love and Tocky there is a host of other upcoming artistes from the city, the likes of Mighty Fire, Nicky Spy, Ghetto Soja, Junior and Terranto Vybz, who will warm up the stage.

On the turntables there is going to be popular DJs including Dee Nosh from Harare, Tonny, Knox, and Zola.

The Conquering Family boss Soul Jah Love, is slowly weaving his way up the ladder with each show, setting himself apart from his contemporaries.

The talented artiste whose real name is Soul Musaka is now among the few acts in the mould of Winky D and Guspy Warrior who are able to stage shows on their own without being bundled up in groups.

It is well and good that the gig will feature two young artistes – Soul Jah Love and Tocky Vibes – who are doing well musically that is.

Soul Jah Love aka “Chibaba Chacho” has achieved a lot ever since he bust on the mainstream music scene.

Backed by the Conquering Family alongside his sweetheart Bounty Lisa and Ipah Yout, the “Hauite Hauite” singer makes no apology for being rated as one of the best in the genre.

Almost always he delivers the best tunes on any riddim and his lyrical prowess knows no boundaries. Most of his hit songs are imaginative pieces of art which partly addresses his shortcoming as he grew up.

Some of the songs that make you stop and think include “Handichabatika”, “Zimbabwe” and “Ndini Uya Uya”, in which he narrates his life in the streets, how he was condemned and dejected as a child.

These stories about his life make you believe that there is God above.

And more often than not, he gives thanks to the Almighty Lord for turning his life for the better through the gift of music.

Of course, he brags about the talent but he doesn’t say that he is the greatest but he gives all the glory to God.

The coming in of Soul Jah Love bears testimony to the fact that Zim-dancehall is here to stay regardless of the fact that critics describe it as bubble gum music.

The world over, bubble gum music is trending and fans should be happy that after Winky D there is Soul Jah Love.

Also not to be outdone is Tocky. Throughout the year, Tocky has been caught offside either for poor performances or for no shows.

Despite being the man-of-the moment Tocky still had a lot to prove and the New Year’s Eve gig will be a perfect chance to prove critics wrong.

Show organiser Kudzaishe Matongo promised music lovers a great time tomorrow. He said fans should come in their numbers and enjoy the “clash” between Tocky and Soul Jah Love.
