Organisers of the 8th edition of the Changamire Festival Awards have released the nomination list for the hip-hop category, with talented hip-hop artiste Holy Ten dominating with 14 categories. 

Judging by the number of nominees, Holy Ten’s talent is bearing fruits, cementing his status as the “king” of hip-hop in the country. 

Changamire Festival Awards director Jackson “Zimboy” Muchechetere confirmed the nomination list which was released yesterday via social media. 

Muchechetere said the awards were slated for April 12 at Long Cheng Plaza in Belvedere. 

“Holy Ten has secured 14 nominations and that is record breaking,” he said. “He has been nominated for Best Male, Best Album, People’s Choice, Best Hip Hop Video, Best Hip Hop Verse, Socialite of The Year, Best Hip Hop Group, Best Performance Act, Best Alternative Act × 2, Best Collaboration × 2,2 Songs of The Year.”

Muchechetere said Holy Ten was worth the nominations since he was consistent throughout the past year. 

He said regional artistes were set to grace the upcoming show along with the local urban grooves artistes. 

“Honorary Awards for the night, Lifetime Achievement Honorary Award to be presented to Roki, Nadia Nakai and Blackie as most influential female and male African artistes respectively,” he said. 

Muchechetere said one closely watched contest this year will involve Holy Ten and Kikky, who will face each other in the major categories.

On the female side, rapper Kikky is leading with 11 nominations which include Best Female, Song of The Year, People’s Choice, Best Alternative Song, Best Hip-Hop Verse, Best Performance Act, Best Hip-Hop Group, Best Hip-Hop Video, Socialite of The Year,2 Best Collaboration. 

This year’s show has at least 30 categories.

Muchechetere said there were notable mentions that include Voltz JT, Saint Floew and Crooger, who were nominated for seven nominations each. 

Despite having received a backlash on social media following his marriage, Holy Ten, the self-proclaimed leader of the youth who was born Mukudzei Chitsama, is probably letting his music speak for himself. 

Holy Ten had a clash recently with some sections of his fans over his newly married wife, Kimberly Richards, for whom he officially paid lobola a few weeks back. 

In response to the backlash, he went on to release singles “Usavasekerere” and “Put It Down”, which many people thought were in response to the clashes Holy Ten encountered.
