Some of Zimbabwe’s top hip-hop artistes will battle it out for honours at this year’s awards ceremony scheduled for December 11 at the 7 Arts Theatre in Avondale.
Rappers Maskiri, Stunner, Junior Brown, Tehn Diamond and Mudiwa will battle for top honours in the People’s Choice Awards category where the gong could go to any one of the quartet.

Hip-hop awards spokesperson Florence “Flo” Goto said the awards would be different and bigger this year.
“We have seen the birth of talented and aspiring artistes coming in every year, but this time around fortunes will change for those who worked hard.

“Hip-hop awards are getting better each year therefore there is credibility which we hope to maintain,” said Flo.
Hip-hop fans are in for a rare treat as there are a number of artistes who did well during the course of the year. It would be interesting to see who will walk away with the coveted award since fans will vote for their favourite artistes.

Maskiri stands a better chance of retaining the title judging by the hype and comments on the awards on its Facebook page and on the website.

New entrants Tehn Diamond and Junior Brown are not spared out of the possibility to grab the honours as they have recently won the hearts of many local hip-hop fans with their formidable combination in which they have released club bangers such as “Happy” and “Realness”.
Apparently, Junior Brown, Stunner, Marcques and Tehn Diamond are up for the Song of the Year award.

Self-proclaimed “Swag Dudes” Stunner and Mudiwa are expected to prove their mettle as not just flamboyant studio rappers, but strong contenders in hip-hop honours.

The awards show will be co-presented by Munya “Diamond Boy” Chidzonga and top model Vimbai Mutinhiri, both ex-BBA housemates.
