HERENTALS coach Kumbirai Mutiwekuziva hailed his new acquisitions, midfielder Jean Mutudza and defender Ralph Kawondera, for adding value to the team after victory over Seven Flames in an entertaining Northern Region Division One Soccer League match at the National Sports Stadium yesterday. The home side got their goals from captain Wilmore Chimbetu and Blessing Majarira to turn the tables after Seven Flames took the lead in the 27th minute through Emmanuel Chingondi.

Chimbetu equalised for his side in the 30th minute when he beat Seven Flames goalkeeper Shepherd Scotch from a close range when he was left unmarked inside the box.

Herentals grabbed the winner when Majarira, who came in as a substitute for Aron Chiwandamidzi, received a good cross from Jean in the 46th minute and his shot found the back of the net.

Mutiwekuziva saluted his charges and noted that Mutudza and Kawondera, who returned to the side from Premiership team Flame Lily during the mid-season break, added value to the team.

Both players were making their first appearance for the side.

“Today’s game was good for us because we managed to pick points that’s the most important thing. I think the way we played was good enough because we believe in ball possession and our guys today managed to do that so it was good enough.

“We have also added Ralph Kawondera, he brought some confidence and stability in our defence although they conceded but his addition means more value to the team.

“And also the young guy Jean Mutudza, a very creative midfielder also added value to the team. We bought him from Budiriro Gunners. So there is change and it’s good because it has produced results for us,” said Mutiwekuziva.

The Herentals coach said they are optimistic of more good days to come.

“They should have scored more unfortunately the guys missed some chances though it happens in football.

His counterpart, Jannitor Saunyama blamed lack of concentration from his charges as they allowed Herentals to come back into the game.

“Today’s game, we managed to play very well but the way we took our chances was very poor, especially from the boys who were playing upfront and we lacked concentration during the game.

“This is sad news for our camp, we are not happy with this result. We will try our level best to win some matches which are coming.
