Zimbabwe is fast grooming a new breed of young leaders who excel in many fields. One such youngster is Dennis Sianga a.k.a “Jumbude”, who is a dancer. His trademark is a bald head that makes him look much older, but makes his act all the more interesting.Born in 2006, Sianga says he always wanted to be a performer. When he was five years old, he decided to take up dancing.

“I always had a passion for dancing and this led me to join my brother’s dance Group Street Madness at a tender age,” he said.
The nimble-footed seven-year-old dancer, who hails from the high-density suburb of Mbare, has done much in his hobby which is less than a year old. Currently, in Grade One at Chitsere Primary School, in the same suburb, Sianga has showed what it takes to be a renowned young dancer.

Having started showcasing his dancing skills early this year, the lad has never looked back. He continues to fine tune his act each day and has actually proved to be a force to reckon on the country’s entertainment scene.

“This is just the beginning, I am looking forward to be a renowned dancer,” said Sianga.
The energetic dancer developed his skills while watching his brother Cliff and his crew undergoing rehearsals at the back of their house.
“I used to watch the group doing rehearsals at home and I just loved it and I realised I could do it. I started practising one of the routine dances called Zora Butter.

“From that dance, I went through the tutelage of my brother until I fine-tuned it for the stage,” he said.

Being skilful, his hobby has blossomed so much that he can now dance along with the group. He has rubbed shoulders with a number of established dancers and exhibited his skills in many places. Topping the list is the Harare Agricultural Show, Rainbow Towers, Stodart Hall in Mbare among other entertainment joints.

For his prowess, Sianga was at one time awarded US$100 by an elated fan during a performance in Ardbennie.
Meanwhile, the boy mesmerised audiences at the just ended Jibilika Dance Festival with his brilliant dance moves through two dances “Rairo Kune Vechidiki” and the eye-catching “Church Heathen”.

“Church Heathen” portrays how the evil tend to manipulate innocent souls through satanic ways.
“On this dance, I was holding a Bible and defeated the demon-like man using the Holy Bible to free the innocent soul who was being used in evil ways.

“This was simply to encourage people to go to church and educate them that the devil has no power over the Almighty,” said the pint-sized dancer. During his act, Sianga takes time to castigate rape perpetrators especially fathers who force themselves on their daughters. Sianga called for the responsible authorities to accord children the opportunity to air their grievances in line with some of the sentences being passed on rapists.

“I think what I have been elaborating in one of my dances titled ‘Mwana Aitwa Sei’, is a sad situation whereby on a daily basis we get to hear stories of a girl having been raped by his father or relative.

“There is need for lawmakers to push for stiffer penalties to all perpetrators of rape,” he said. No matter how good the boy is on the dance floor, he has a passion to become a man of the cloth.

“It is my dream to become a pastor when I grow up because I love to preach the word and teach people to desist from evil deeds. I will continue dancing under the wings of Street Madness”, said Sianga with a warm smile.
The lad says he is lucky, because his parents support him in his hobby.
