CHICKEN Inn have been invited to take part in the second edition of the Nyasa Big Bullets International Bonanza slated for end of February in Malawi.

This was after Dynamos, who were the first to be invited to the tourney, did not confirm their participation in time.

Interestingly, both Nyasa Big Bullets and DeMbare are backed by the same sponsor — Rudand and George, a subsidiary of GOLD Leaf Tobacco.

The three-day pre-season tournament will be hosted by Malawi’s TNM Super League champions Nyasa Big Bullets, who are coached by Zimbabwean gaffer Callisto Pasuwa.

The tournament, which involves two foreign teams, will also feature Mozambican side UD Songo and another top Malawian side BE-Forward Wanderers.

The games will be at Kamuzu in Blantyre from February 28 to March 1.

This year’s tournament will be Chicken Inn’s second appearance as they also featured in the inaugural event last year.

The club’s sporting director, Tawengwa Hara, confirmed the invitation yesterday.

“Yes, we were invited for the tournament, and as a club, we will show up for the games.

“However, the dates of the team’s departure for the tournament have not yet been finalised,” he said.

The Gamecocks, who finished as runners-up in the 2019 Castle Lager Premiership season, have been reinforcing their team during the transfer period.

They have since signed Warriors defender Ian Nekati from ZPC Kariba and Nelson Ketala from Ngezi Platinum Stars.

Big Bullets’ chief administrative officer Albert Chigoga confirmed the 2020 Nyasa Big Bullets International Bonanza would feature four teams.

“All the invited teams have confirmed their participation in the bonanza. Formally, we have received their written confirmations and now we are all set.

“The football fraternity should expect maximum entertainment during the bonanza, looking at the calibre of the teams that are coming.

“We are talking of one of the big teams from Mozambique and another one from Zimbabwe with quality players.

“We want football fanatics to come and enjoy the game and, at the same time, being pre-season, we want our supporters to come and experience how prepared we are for the upcoming season,” said Chigoga.
