As innovation continues at National Gallery of Zimbabwe (NGZ), scores of people will be treated to a local classic movie “Yellow Card” in an open-air screening this (Friday) evening.

The screening coupled with a performance from stand-up comedian Louis the Prince is part of the monthly First Fridays event which sees NGZ partnering with Enthuse Africa in an alternative use of the gallery space and its sculptor garden.

Aimed at livening the gallery and drawing revellers to interact with the space, the event attracts a diverse audience cutting across all age groups and racial lines.

The screening will be held in the garden area of the gallery with those is attendance seating on picnic blankets spread across the lawn, enjoying the fresh evening air and a scenic starry night sky.

NGZ will also be open for private evening tours.

“Yellow Card” is a tale of a teenager, Tiyane a rising star in a local football club, the Hyenas. He is a responsible son and head prefect hopeful at the local high school.

This is until he falls in love with Juliet, impregnates her, and becomes a father at a very young age.

The movie is a fast-paced, funny and touching story of teenage love, lust for life, laughter and a passion for football.

It is often regarded as one of the best productions to come out of the country.

“Yellow Card” is the second film screening at First Fridays after a successful showing of another local classic “Neria”.
