TOP Zimbabwean female motorbike rider Tiffany Fisher is on the verge of making history.

Fisher is currently competing in this year’s Bokomo Weet-Bix Megelli Series and she recently won a round of this exciting motorcycling competition during a main circuit race meeting at Donnybrook Raceway in Harare.

In fact, the last race meeting at Donnybrook was a resounding success with Toyota the sponsors of the meeting that saw over 1 500 spectators thronging the home of local motorsport.

The Bokomo Weet-Bix-sponsored Megelli race was won by Fisher who gave the male riders a good riding lesson to win the series for the day and she is now a clear favourite to win this competition which only has one round to go before the season ends.

Fisher only needs to finish in the top four in the last round of the 2015 Bokomo Weet-Bix Megelli series for her to be crowned the champion and it will be the first time in Zimbabwe’s history for a female rider to clinch a national motorcycle road racing championship.

Fisher only started racing a couple of years ago and she has become the one to beat in the Megelli 250cc class. She does not only ride in the Bokomo Weet-Bix Megelli class but she is also racing in the Superbike category aboard a Honda 600cc and is improving after every outing.

And it will not be long before she will be running for a top position in this class.

Fisher has been a revelation on the local motorsport scene since she took up the sport a couple of years ago under the mentorship of veteran rider Phil “Archie” Archenoul who also happens to be her main rival on the track at Donnybrook.

Shaun Whyte, who is one of the organisers of motorcycling racing at Donnybrook, said they owe the revival of the sport in this country to one of their main sponsors — Bokomo Weet-Bix.

“We as riders would like to take this opportunity to thank Bokomo Weet-Bix for their valued support. Without them our Megelli 250 race series would not be the same,” Whyte said.

Whyte is a former Superbike champion in South Africa and has also been behind the revival of the sport in Zimbabwe.

He doubles up as the chairman of the Bogwheelers Club, who run the motorcycling sport of motocross in this country.
