Outgoing Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr Mustafe Dek Abdisalam on Thursday paid a courtesy call on Acting President Constantino Chiwenga and called for improved business and economic ties between the two countries.

Mr Abdisalam, who has been in the country since 2016, commended the strong ties between Zimbabwe and Ethiopia dating back to the country’s liberation war.

“Our relationship goes back to the liberation war of Zimbabwe which Ethiopia supported and after that we have had excellent relations that have been cemented by Ethiopian Airlines which has been flying to Zimbabwe since the 1980s and it added its footprint to Victoria Falls during my stay in Zimbabwe,” he said.

“We agreed that our political relations are excellent, but we need to create avenues for business and trade exchange,” he said.

Mr Abdisalam called on Zimbabweans to support policies adopted by President Mnangagwa.

“I think Zimbabwe has a lot of potential,” he said. “The main potential of Zimbabweans is on your education.

“Of course, there are challenges, but the new dispensation has come up with right policies and is following the right trajectory.”
