CONSTRUCTION of the Museum of African Liberation being spearheaded by Zimbabwe is for all African nations and Eswatini will provide necessary resources and artefacts to support the project.

Son to Eswatini leader King Mswati III, Prince Lindani Nkosi who is leading a delegation from the kingdom, made the pledge during a tour of the Liberation City which houses the Museum of African Liberation in Warren Park.

Prince Lindani Nkosi was shown a one-acre piece of land reserved for Eswatini to construct their monuments and took the opportunity to water a tree on behalf of his country.

The Prince acknowledged that the Museum would be looking at history and culture, not only for Zimbabwe, but for Africa as a whole.

“His Majesty has sent us to come here to view the acre which President Mnangagwa has given to the Kingdom of Eswatini and to see how we can erect a monument. We are very impressed.

“We are excited that the museum here is not just for Zimbabwe but there are other African countries which have been given the opportunity to come up and set up their monuments,” he said.

Prince Lindani Nkosi added: “As we know, our King as well as the late King Sobhuza ll, who is His Majesty Mswati III’s father, supported African liberation movements so we are excited to be here.

“We are looking to strengthen the cooperation and having exchange programmes. I know Ambassador Muzawazi came to the kingdom as a special envoy sent by his Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa to come and meet his Majesty to discuss this programme here,” he said.

Institute of African Knowledge chief executive officer Ambassador Kwame Muzawazi thanked King Mswati and the delegation for the visit which followed a visit to the Kingdom of Eswatini last year where there was royal hospitality and reception.

He said during the visit to Eswatini, they presented an invitation from President Mnangagwa for the Kingdom to participate in the project.

“The visit by his Highness the Prince is a direct response to that invitation. They have an opportunity to see that we were not in Eswatini selling a dream or an idea with nothing happening on the ground. Work has already started.

“We are in the middle of the implementation and Eswatini was offered a piece of sacred Zimbabwean soil to erect a monument paying homage to Eswatini’s important role in the liberation of Zimbabwe, Southern Africa and Africa at large.”

Museum of African Liberation is situated on a 103-hectare site known as Liberation City, whose construction has already commenced.

The Liberation City is an expansive piece of land located only seven kilometres west of Harare city centre, along Bulawayo Road.

It will house the museum as the main attraction and will include a five-star hotel, an amusement park, theme park, animal park, various national monuments including a heritage village among many recreational and amusement facilities.

The Liberation City is projected to be a family friendly attraction for both local, regional and international tourists who will enjoy history, heritage, recreational, commercial and amusement facilities to be established at the new city.
