Prominent Zvimba farmer and businessman Cde Chester Mhende organised a sports tournament on Independence Day to mobilise youths to vote for President Mnangagwa in the forthcoming elections.

The tournament was held under the #EDhasmyvote campaign launched by the ruling party’s Youth League.

Speaking in an interview on the sidelines of the tournament, Cde Mhende said it was imperative that President Mnangagwa be retained in office on the backdrop of policies he has introduced.

“The President has brought about sound economic policies through the ‘Zimbabwe is open for business’ mantra that has seen huge interest from investors in investing in the                                                             country.

“It is for that reason that as a farmer and businessman who has benefited from Government’s policies that I have launched this campaign that he be retained in office by urging youths to vote for him,” he said.

He also called on Zimbabweans to vote resoundingly for the ruling party in the elections.

“Zimbabweans should vote for the ruling party as it has shown that it has the interests of people at heart through its various empowerment policies that have benefited thousands of  people across the country,” Cde Mhende said.

The tournament included soccer, netball and volleyball, and featured teams drawn from five wards in the district.

Apart from urging youths to take part in this year’s elections, Cde Mhende has also initiated various programmes to benefit the Zvimba South community including poultry and livestock projects and repaired Marimba Bridge which was damaged by floods five years ago.
