LONDON. — Portugal’s Euro 2016 soccer final hero Eder made the astonishing revelation that his dad is in prison in England for murder.

The forward , who scored the winning goal against France on Sunday, claimed his father was nearing the end of a 16-year sentence for the murder of his step-mum.

Eder told of his father’s jail sentence during a TV interview in Portugal after his wonder strike earned his country a surprise 1-0 final win to become European champions. Asked about his parents, the former Swansea footballer said : “My dad is in prison. Since I was 12. My step-mum died and he was accused of killing her.“ He was sentenced to 16 years, I think.”

The Guinea-Bissau-born footballer, who started his professional career in 2008 with Portuguese side Academica, a team based in the beautiful university city of Coimbra, added: “From the moment I went to Academica and began to earn money, I could go to England to see him in jail.” — The Mirror.
