PRESIDENT Mnangagwa’s servant leadership qualities have inspired the Zanu-PF Youth League to engage people at the grassroots, especially those from the rural areas, where the ruling party garnered majority of votes during the 2018 Harmonised elections.

Speaking in Hurungwe during the weekend, Zanu-PF deputy national secretary for Youth Affairs Cde Lewis Matutu said the party’s leadership should take a leaf from the President’s leadership qualities.

This, he said, was evidenced through his continued engagement with communities across Zimbabwe from the Cyclone Idai-ravaged Chimanimani to St Mary’s, Chitungwiza during the national clean-up campaign.

“I am here in Hurungwe East Constituency to support fellow youths who are launching an incubation centre. Gone are the days of delegation, l was inspired by President Mnangagwa’s servant leadership as he is moving around the country interacting with people at grassroots level,” he said.

“In terms of being occupied, the Head of State and Government always has a busy schedule, but he is managing to squeeze his programmes and that has pushed us as youths to walk the talk on servant leadership.”

Cde Matutu said it was high time developmental programmes start benefiting youths in rural areas who had been previously marginalised while those from urban centres were enjoying the fruits of their votes.

He, however, appealed to the youths in rural areas who have projects that need financial support to approach the party through proper channels so that they get assistance.

The Youth League’s deputy secretary for security Cde Silas Chimbiro said youths’ support for President Mnangwagwa was unquestionable and he remains their sole presidential candidate for the 2023 harmonised elections.

“We solely rally behind President Mnangagwa for 2023 elections and beyond and as youths, we are ready to continue offering him the maximum support he deserves to achieve vision 2030 of making Zimbabwe a middle income economy,” he said.

Mashonaland West Zanu-PF youth chairperson Cde Vengai Msengi said the province was also walking the talk on servant leadership.

President Mnangagwa has won the admiration of many across Zimbabwe by engaging citizens at all levels while following up on various projects he pledged during his campaign ahead of the July 31 Harmonised Elections last year.
