It was an exceptional Easter holiday in Nyanga when people from all walks of life converged for the Claremont Easter Fair that presented various arts activities and displays. Immense talent in arts and craft came to the fore through exhibition of various wares while music and dance was also the order of the day on Saturday.

A multiracial crowd enjoyed the activities from around 9am to late in the night.
The fair was running for its third year, having grown commendably from previous editions. Attendees from Nyanga and surrounding places made a date with the fun-filled event.

The Easter Funfair is organised by Montclair Hotel and Casino in conjuction with Juliasdale community and it brings together people from as far as Harare, Mutare and Rusape among other areas.
Braai

Fun began in the morning as exhibitors set their stands displaying various creative artefacts. Designers also brought fancy outfits that were mainly made according to African themes.
Experts in various local and foreign cuisines competed to make best dishes and attendees were spoilt for choice.
Talented DJs took turns on the turntables and spiced the day with various selections.

They played various genres that appealed to the multiracial crowd and there were some exciting displays of dancing styles from attendees.

Braai stands were busy as families roasted meat and some shared with new guests in a manner that exhibited a spirit of unity.
The families also had golf and tug-of-war teams that participated in games that proved exciting to experienced players and learners alike.

Montclair Hotel manager Brian Nyakutombwa said the Easter Fair is becoming a popular event to guests at their hotel and members of the community.

“Our hotel was fully booked for the Easter holiday and we introduced our guests to this fair so that they would add the event to their list of activities in the Eastern Highlands.

“Our advantage is that our guests get exposed to various activities such as mountain climbing, waterfall views, game drives, canoeing, horse rides, skywalk and many other exciting activities. We have added the Easter Fair and our Spring Festival that takes place at the same venue in September or October.”

An after-party of the Easter Fair that began around 6pm closed the day on an accelerated entertainment gesture as people had fun until late in the night.

Old Skool
In addition to the Easter Fair, Montclair Hotel hosted musicians that entertained guests at their hotel.
Jazz masters Goodfellas entertained guests with performances at the hotel’s poolside and in the restaurant while Afro-fusion singer Ammi Jamanda took care of guests in the casino.

The musicians came prepared for the holiday and delivered polished acts. Goodfellas performed classic old skool hits and also gave people a taste of their new songs.
They spiced their act with some comic moments that gave people the best time out.
Their act was evidently programmed for family outing.

On the other hand, Ammi made sure that she left people asking for more with a memorable and energetic act.
Music fans, golfers, designers, food masters, literary arts practitioners, craftsmen and musicians among others will have lasting memories of events at the hotel, casino and golf course.
