Government, through Hwedza Rural District Council, has completed building Tilita clinic in Ward 3, a development which will bring health service closer to that community.

The New Dispensation is on record that every citizen must access all critical services closer to their homes.

As such, Hwedza RDC channelled devolution funds towards the establishment of the health institution for the people of Tilita who are currently walking for more than 15 km to either Hwedza district hospital or travelling for more than 20 km to Mt St Mary’s for the same services.

The whole clinic structure is now complete and already, a solar powered borehole at the clinic is supplying the entire institution and surrounding community with portable water.

Hwedza RDC chief executive officer Mr Fredrick Jongwe said now council is working on the staff quarters and also mobilising some of the equipment and furniture to be used by staff as they execute their duties.

“The clinic is complete now and soon it will be opened. We are also building a staff house at the clinic which is now almost complete. We are expecting to open this clinic in the first quarter of this year so that the community can be assisted with health services.

“We are also in the process of mobilising for furniture and other equipment to be used in the clinic. As a council, we have other projects which we expect to commission during the first quarter of this year so that people get services.

“We thank Government for providing us with devolution funds which are being used to establish this clinic. The clinic will serve a lot of people and we are grateful as a council,” he said.

Ward 3 councillor Alderman Solomon Mutswiri thanked Government for the clinic which he said is a major development for the people in his ward.

“The Second Republic is the best, we are grateful for this clinic as the people of Tilita. We are now happy that the Second Republic under President Mnangagwa leaves no one and no place behind in as far as development is concerned.

“I am happy. President Mnangagwa’s administration has a vision and people at heart, especially here in the rural areas.

“What the Second Republic has achieved in a short period of time is amazing. We are amazed by their hard work.

“People will be served closer to their homes and this will serve them time and money. If all goes well, we are expecting to open this clinic in March, or earlier,” he said.

A resident from Tilita Amai Chakwanda expressed joy that the clinic is complete.

“What the Second Administration has done for us in Tilita is commendable. Hurumende yedu toitenda zvakanyanya nekutivakira chipatara chakanaka.

“Everyone is happy here because of what Government has done for us, everyone is praising the Second Republic for this development.”

Mr Cornelius Gorerekufa said walking for long distances to Mt St Marys Hospital will soon be over.

“We are walking for long distances and hours to the next clinic, but all is set to be history because our Government has built a clinic close to our homes.

“As for me, this clinic is just a stone throw away and I am very excited. This is what we always wanted as parents of this community and our wish in Tilita has been fulfilled.”
