Self-taught graphic designer-cum-artiste Augustus Vurunga has re-branded with the launch of a new logo amid plans to open a new studio in Harare. Affectionately known as Baba Zaine, he will open the studio to be known as CashTalk which is expected to benefit musicians and celebrities in the capital city. The studio is set to open next month and will cater for music recording, graphic designing, videos and photo-portfolio for those who wish to work with the graphic designer.

Vurunga expressed joy at the re-branding programme which he hopes will help him gain more clients.

He said he had decided to shed his bad boy image for good.

“I was known as a bad boy. Not that I have a bad character but the persona of gangster which is sometimes associated with the Rasta-ghetto boy.

“I chose the clean image but I am not dissing the ghetto boys.”

The studio will be set up in Sunningdale with plans to re-locate to a central venue.

Vurunga, who is well known for his works on Cindy Munyavi and Ras Caleb’s logos, said the move would develop his artworks.

“I have worked with a number of artistes doing their graphic designs but I am worried because people do not recognise those behind the scenes.”

He is currently working on introducing a new music genre next month.

“My inspiration comes from the past, the present and the possible future. When I look at my past, I want to make sure that my son does not go through what I went through.

“When I look at the present I feel like there is so much room to make things better. When I imagine the future, I know it’s going to be bright so I simply can’t stop,” he said.

On his future, Vurunga said he aims at being the best in his trade.

“I have developed all my skills and now I want to actually make things happen. I want to be a marketing and advertising powerhouse with services from fashion to showbiz under one roof,” he said.

He said he has created an online socialite and marketing character with the name Augustus “Baba Zaine” Vurunga.

Vurunga also works for a packaging and printing company in Graniteside, Harare.

He said he had no role model but has been inspired by others in the industry.

“I look up to a number of individuals who have been supporting my movement from day one. People like Cynthia Bizure of Jan Jam Men’s Wear.

“Propabless and Cindy Munyavi have helped me realise that there is light at the end of the tunnel, to which I’m grateful.

“I almost gave up on life itself after the loss of my wife nine days after giving birth to Zaine but these people gave me the strength to start afresh.”
