Beverages manufacturer Delta Corporation this week unveiled two classroom blocks at Tashinga Primary School in Macheke which it built at a total cost of US$26 000 to help improve the learning environment for 648 children of resettled farmers.
The company intervened and built the modern classroom blocks after it was told that children at the school were learning under trees and grass-thatched structures which were not conducive for learning.

Delta Corporation chairman Canaan Dube said the support offered to the school would assist the students in their education by providing conducive learning environment that would not expose them to rain and other harsh weather conditions.

He hailed President Mugabe for his leadership role in promoting education and for compelling companies to empower local communities through providing support to various development initiatives.

“Delta Corporation fully embraces the Government policy on corporate social responsibility which allows us to empower the less privileged and is consistent with national economic empowerment thrust,” he said.

The construction of the classroom blocks started in March this year and was completed in October.
Tashinga Primary School students were attending school in a dilapidated classroom block since 2001.

Provincial education director for Mashonaland East province Mr Sylvester Matshaka thanked Delta Corporation for supporting the construction of the block.
