A ROTTWEILER bit passers-by and police on Paris’ central Champs Elysees, as the French government made plans yesterday to ban breeding and imports of dangerous attack dogs.

The animal was shot and wounded by police on Tuesday after its master, a boy of 14, took off its muzzle and set it on police. A police officer shot and slightly wounded the dog, capturing it, although another officer was bitten. – Ziana-AFP.

LESSONS FOR TODAY

Dogs have traditionally been referred to as a man’s best friend due to long history of their close relations, loyalty, friendship and companionship with humans.

While the relationship between man and dogs has been good, there have been instances where dogs have turned on the friend due to  various circumstances.

The Rottweiler is a breed of domestic dogs, regarded as medium-to-large or large. They are a popular family dog because they tend to get on well with children.

While they are gentle and playful by nature, they can forget their size and may be too boisterous for children.

Rottweiler attack are common across the world. They have been known to attack even their owners and some of the attacks have been fatal.

In the United States, the Rottweiler is responsible for more fatal attacks than any other breed, except pitbulls.
