The trail of destruction left behind by Covid -19 has reminded communities about the importance of family.

Family support is important in the Covid-19 fight, and prevention especially now that the country has upped the vaccination programme.

With vaccinations now targeted at the elderly, those with chronic conditions, teachers among others, younger people are also taking the jab when they accompany their parents and other older relatives.

Such family support and understanding of the importance of getting the jab is important.

BoldAds Traffic Co-ordinator Lynne Zvikaramba and her younger sister Cynthia last week accompanied their elderly mother Rose and also took the opportunity to get their first jab at Wilkins Infectious Diseases Hospital.

“I believe the Covid-19 vaccination is an important tool help me fight the virus, if ever I get infected. This drove me to get the jab. I also live with my elderly mom, and I’m in contact with her every day – even more reason to be vaccinated since her age is a high risk factor,” said Lynne.

Her sister Cynthia who is a presenter and producer of Economic Forum, and also the producer of Crime Watch, ZRP Television Publicity Programme urged Zimbabweans to get the Covid-19 jab.

“I’m a program producer- presenter-cum-marketer. As a communications person, I come into contact with many people. My job entails lots of traveling. I got vaccinated to protect myself since I’ve a high risk job. The jab is my armour against Covid-19,” she said.

Their mother, Rose, also said she took the jab to protect herself and was happy her children also took it.

Getting the support of her children shows how they are concerned about her health.

The trio said it is crucial for families to encourage each other to get the jab, which for now is the proven pharmaceutical protection against Covid-19 infection.

They also encouraged Zimbabweans to continue following other non-pharmaceutical prevention measures like social distancing, wearing face masks and washing hands with soap and clean water.
