Covid-19 card scam, polyclinic staffer on the run

POLICE are hunting for Sekai Gabriel in connection with corruption charges after she sold a Covid-19 vaccination card to a journalist from The Herald.

The journalist had gone undercover after receiving information that some staff in polyclinics were selling Covid-19 vaccination cards to people who have not received the vaccine.

He was sold the vaccination card by Sekai Gabriel for US$25.

After the journalist exposed the rot, Gabriel is now allegedly on the run.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the development and appealed to the public for information which may lead to her arrest.

“The Police Special Investigation Unit and Special Anti-Corruption Unit (SACU) are appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of Sekai Gabriel in connection with corruption charges.

“The suspect is currently on the run. Anyone with information to approach any nearest Police Station or contact National Complaints Desk on 0242 703631 or WhatsApp Platform on 0712 800 197,” Asst Comm Nyathi said.
