GOVERNMENT’S premier logistics company, CourierConnect, will next month launch travel agency services for the civil service, parastatals, quasi-Government institutions and local authorities.

The travel agency will be the first State-owned travel agency since independence and is expected to provide affordable, secure and more convenient to the travelling Government officials.

“It is our conviction that this new agency will go a long way in ensuring that our Government meets all its international assignments in respect of attending foreign seminars, conferences and other bilateral and multilateral engagements in a more cost effective manner,” said Mr Isaac Muchokomori CourierConnect managing director.

It is envisaged that the agency will provide free visa facilitation services, airport shuttle services and hotel bookings, among other offerings.

The agency is expected to save Government revenue that has been going to private travel agencies around the country.

“This service will anchor on the wholesale pre-purchase of tickets and will save Government millions of dollars annually,” said Mr Muchokomori.

The finer details regarding the agency are still being worked on but its launch has been scheduled for February 10.

The travel agency is one of the many services that the courier company will introduce this year as the new board of directors appointed late last year seeks to turn around the fortunes of the company through product innovation and diversification.

CourierConnect is a courier and carriage service company that started as an offshoot of Zimpost with a primary focus to provide efficient courier services throughout Zimbabwe and beyond.

With an already established branch network in the country’s biggest urban centres complemented by the wide postal network in Zimbabwe, CourierConnect is well positioned to provide expeditious and efficient courier and carriage services.

Some of the products that the company offers include post cargo, a service that caters for unpacked cargo of a non-courier nature with a weight limit of 2 999 kilograms.

Household and industrial goods, office furniture, fixtures and other unpacked goods such as computers, fridges, tyres which require specialised handling may be moved using this facility.

For the post, cargo normal delivery is within one week although the period may be shortened to meet customer requirements. Warehousing maybe provided on customer’s request.

CourierConnect also offers intraCity services, a product that is tailor made for extremely urgent documents and parcels for delivery to addresses in the same city, within a 50km radius in few hours. This service also caters for relocation needs.

“CourierConnect is mandated by Zim-Asset to provide modern and efficient enabler services that will significantly contribute to the country’s ease of doing business,” said Mr Muchokomori.
