Several artistes have been lined up for the first Bulawayo edition of Police Commissioner General’s Funfair to be held at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair grounds tomorrow. Musicians including Pastor Charles Charamba and Amai Olivia Charamba, Sandra Ndebele, Suluman Chimbetu, Jeys Marabini, the Police Band and Iyasa are expected to grace the occasion. In an interview Pastor Charamba said it is a privilege to be among the chosen musicians.

“I am very excited to be part of the entertainers. Besides entertainment, we will be preaching the word of God. The Commissioner General’s Funfair used to be in Harare only but this time it will be in Bulawayo,” he said.

“The laws of the land and the gospel complement each other. Matthew 11 verse 28 says it all, (Come unto me, all those that labour and are heavy laden and l will give you rest).

“The mandate of the police is to maintain peace and order and the word of God is there to guide and control people. I am urging the young and the elderly to

come in their numbers to hear the word of God through singing,” he said.

Sandra said she is happy that for the first time in history the Police Commissioner General’s Funfair is going to be held in Bulawayo.

“This is an opportunity for people from Bulawayo to rub shoulders with the police without committing any offence. This is the time for us to chat and mingle with them. I am urging all age groups in different areas to come in their numbers for this exciting event. There is nothing to fear since it will be performed during the day,” she said.

This year’s edition is expected to entertain thousands of people from Esgodini, Gwanda, Figtree and other neighbouring communities.

Besides music, other entertainment programmes are lined up for the day including police displays, rides in police cars and bikes and jumping castles.

The Police Commissioner General Dr Augustine Chihuri saw it fit for the funfair to be held in Bulawayo as a way for the public to meet and enjoy the day with their police officers.
