ZIMBABWE’S professional golfer Robson Chinhoi won his second major tournament in two weeks after he won the Lubumbashi Open at Lubumbashi Golf Club in the Democratic Republic of Congo yesterday.

The Royal Harare-based golfer recorded his second win after he also won the Kinshasa Open at the Golf Club de Kinshasa in the DRC two weeks ago.

Chinhoi became 24th winner of the weekend’s tournament after he carded rounds of 71 ,67 and 74 for a total seven- under-par.

Chinhoi was joined by Nyasha Muyambo and Visitor Mapwanya who were also part of the field when the trio took part in the Kinshasa Open last week.

He was rewarded with over US$3 000 for his efforts.

“I am celebrating another victory today in the DRC, the Lubumbashi Open Championship (and) I am happy,” said Chinhoi.

He is now expected to travel to Lusaka, Zambia, for The Zambia Open where he will be joined by several Zimbabwean professionals like Tongo Charamba who left the country yesterday evening.

Charamba said he is looking forward to return to his best form after going for three years of inactivity.

“I had left the sport for a good three years when I relocated to South Africa but I am back now.

“I would want to be back to my best form and I had been working hard.

“Starting with the Zambia Open, I would like to make the cut so that I boost my confidence and then I will try the Uganda Open which is coming at the end of this month.

“I think I am in the right frame of mind and I was practising well ahead of the tournament and it is going to be an interesting week ahead,’’ said Charamba.

Meanwhile, leading Zimbabwean professional golfer Scott Vincent managed to make the cut at the Invitational Bangkok where he finished tied on position 45.

Vincent had rounds of 70, 72 and 75 for total 217 to pocket US$126 000. The tournament was won by Eugenio Lopez- Chacarra, at 19-under to pocket US$4million.
