Gospel couple Pastor Charles and Olivia Charamba are glad with fans’ response to their new albums. Speaking at the sidelines of Makomo Music gala that was held in Hwange recently, the gospel couple said their albums “Abba Father” and “Voice of Mirriam” are gaining ground. Pastor Charamba said they have been performing some of the songs and the response has been encouraging.

“When we perform some of these songs people sing along to the songs and that simply means they are taking their time to listen to the tracks,” he said. Charamba said he has been relieved as some sections of his fans were demanding new material with his old style.

“We were under pressure as people were demanding something new from us. Now we have done our part and the response is encouraging,” he said. After finishing his studies with the Zimbabwe College of Music, Charamba said they have now the time and fans would not wait longer before they get new albums.

“I am now done with my studies and now our fans will no longer wait. It is the same with Mai Charamba who released her album too,” he said. The Charambas have become known as “The First Family of Gospel Music”, and are arguably the best-selling gospel artistes to emerge from Zimbabwe. Their music appeals to a wide audience with their sing-along tunes.

The couple has released popular albums like “Johanne 3:16”, “Vhuserere”, “Amen”, “Daily Bread”, “Exodus”, “Sunday Service” and “Verses and Chapters”. They are both pastors with theological training, which enhances their understanding of the Scripture. They have toured the United Kingdom, the United States and Australia and have shared the stage with the likes of Solly Mahlangu, Sipho Makhabane, and Ron Kenolly, among others. With the new album they are expected to tour several countries as well as having a number of public shows across the country.
