CBZ Bank were crowned the 2019 Paynet Cup football champions after a solitary second-half strike by Simbarashe Gandina decided a closely-fought game against FBC in Harare on Sunday.

Gandina converted a penalty after FBC defender Peter Gwisai had brought down his opponent in the box.

CBZ Bank captain and big centre-back, Nobert Mhike, was voted the tournament’s best player.

FBC Bank, winners in 2016, had the early chances to score first but they paid the price for the opportunities they wasted.

Andrew Chiguvare was the chief culprit.

In the women’s challenge final FBC edged Stanbic 3-2.
