Taurayi Mangwiro’s marriage with Harare giants CAPS United finally came to an end when the coach tendered his resignation to the club bosses yesterday. Mangwiro emerged from a meeting with his superiors to confirm the development although he still had two years running on his contract.

The reasons for his sudden departure were not clear by last night.

“Yes I have resigned. All I can say at the moment is that I have requested for the termination of my contract. The rest of the story you can get from the management of the club.

“There was no pressure from anyone. I just felt I needed to terminate the contract and I would like to thank the CAPS United management for affording me the chance to coach one of the biggest clubs in Zimbabwe,” said Mangwiro.

The former Monomotapa and Masvingo United gaffer has had to endure a love-hate relationship with a section of the club’s supporters despite a good run of results.

Makepekepe finished third in the race this season.

The team has had to grind results despite their precarious financial standing, which often led to industrial action and confrontations between the players and the management.

Mangwiro also led the club to a decent finish in a turbulent season last year when they ended in fifth position.

The coach has been complaining of lack of enough support and battled hard to serve the club in the backdrop of hostilities from a section of supporters who always questioned his Dynamos background.
