Campus reflections Evison T Sunguro

Getting out of the daily grind and being adventurous makes us come alive. It allows you to meet people of different cultures, with diverse traditions and distinctive lifestyles. As you travel and discover these newly found worlds, take a moment to reflect not only on the differences that you observe in their lifestyle and behaviour but on the things that unite us.

Again despite asking in the streets what is your favourite tourism destination, we further asked what was your favourite hobby.

Below are some of the answers:

My excitement comes from creating stuff, designing and music.

These I can go for hours doing without being bored as they provide me with a deeper connection closer to my soul and awaken my creativity.

Similarly music resonates my soul, giving me serenity.

Additionally, visitations to quiet and refreshing places with an astounding ambience such as the Eastern Highlands adds up to my propensity. Consequently, we should embrace domestic tourism since it gives us a deeper connection with the richness of our country together with its resources.  It is prudent for us to know our own country before the visitors influx, for it provides a positive picture of us as a host community. Zimbabwe is blessed with cultural, natural and man-made resources which we should appreciate as they form the country’s image from a global perspective. Practicing domestic tourism is not just mind-rewarding but it is also the base towards economic growth via the tourism industry, it is indeed true kuti #ZimBho

My favourite hobby is to read novels. This is my favour hobby because it takes much of my time thus it occupies me , and also I learn a lot of things from some life teaching novels I read. Some novels are real life stories and hence I get to learn a lot ,from what other people have gone through in their lives. My favourite place visited would be Magolis Resort Centre, this is my favourite place because it has a lot of activities such as boat cruising and zip line among many other activities . I love this place  because it relaxes one’s mind and the environment is just good for a holiday and it’s not so far away and expensive.

My advice would to my fellow peers would be that, we have a lot of beautiful places in Zimbabwe that do not require much money . There are some great places near Harare such as Kingfisher, Musinje farm etc . Try these places and you would have different opinions about Zimbabwe as it has   nice places and cool activities for young people.

My favourite pastime is to try various activities. As a matter of fact, l have few low-cost hobbies because l am a student and l can not afford my hobbies to burn a hole in my pocket. These are writing, cooking, being a fashion model, watching reality shows on TV, photography with my mobile phone and learning new languages. I have taught myself to speak Dutch thanks to YouTube videos and Google translate.

I have many places that l have visited but today am here with a particular place l want to share with you guys, it’s an amazing place with a lot of memories. Habesha is a private resort where you can chill with family , friends away from the publicpublic.

The only advice that l can share with my peers is to enjoy life. Remember we only get one chance to live and don’t mess it. Domestic tourism is a tool to eliminate poverty and brings employment.

Watching YouTube videos in my spare time, about a multitude of seemingly unrelated subjects: house tours, engineering & tech innovation, video essays, news snippets, lifestyle vlogs, Little Light Studios documentaries and recently mrbeast’s #teamseas initiative. I am a curious learner and polymath; it would help to add that my Myers-Briggs is INFJ-A, so my downtime occupation makes for a balanced world view I reckon!

Nyanga, Zimbabwe.

The peace and tranquility that only Nyanga exudes equates to an immersive experience to die for! A sort of “Renaissance” in the true essence of the word. !

Hype is not intrinsic, it is created. It’s up to us to actually go out, experience what our local destinations have to offer and tell the world about it. Trust me, we don’t know what we’re missing!

My favourite hobby is reading novels because I get to improve my language and be fluent when talking .This keeps me entertained and occupied as I will be doing less work. Reading sharpens my IQ too so I prefer that.

Victoria Falls is my favorite place to visit because of  its natural beautiful scenery. How everything that side is traditionally well designed .

Domestic tourism is there for us the citizens to get well vested on our country. Get knowledge about how things originated and how they are being well taken care of. Also supporting our country is a good thing .
