At least 45 people were killed and several others injured in a bus crash in Limpopo, South Africa, according to SABC News yesterday.

“The bus went out of control, fell over a bridge and caught fire on the mountain pass between Mokopane and Marken in Limpopo,” the report noted.

Meanwhile, South Africa Transport Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga has sent condolences to the bereaved families and Botswana government following the horrific bus crash that claimed 45 lives in Limpopo.

The pilgrims perished after their bus lost control plunged off a bridge and caught fire on the Mamatlakala mountain pass between Mokopane and Marken.

The pilgrims were travelling to St Engenas ZCC for the Easter conference.

Chikunga said the government will repatriate the bodies.

“We want really to extend our heartfelt condolences to the families but also to the government of Botswana and to the people of Botswana and as South Africa we will try everything to assist so that they go back to their country and families to be buried with dignity.” Reuters/SABC News
