BULAWAYO Chiefs have cashed in on striker Farau Matare, who has been sold to ambitious Zifa Northern Region Division One outfit MWOS.

The move was confirmed by the Bulawayo Chiefs media liaison officer Allen Mpofu.

“Matare was part of our squad for the season but once a good offer came from MWOS we decided to let him make the move. We wish him all the best at his new club and we are grateful for all his contributions at Chiefs,” said Mpofu.

MWOS finished the league in fourth place last season and is desperate to win promotion this year.

As a result, they have beefed up their technical bench by roping in former Harare City coach Joseph “Shabba” Takaringofa to be the team’s first assistant coach for this season.

He is reuniting with coach Lloyd Mutasa, the two having worked together at Dynamos in 2018 and at GreenFuel.

As part of preparations for the new season, they hosted the country’s big three teams in friendly matches at their Ngoni Stadium.

Norton had never hosted these big boys which are Highlanders, Dynamos, and CAPS United. MWOS president, Patrick Tamson, has shown great passion in injecting hope into the community, which produced Knowledge and Walter Musona.

MWOS fans have also responded well by coming out in numbers to support the team from Norton.
