Chivi South legislator (Zanu-PF) Killer Zivhu has embarked on a project to empower 100 disadvantaged people in Harare as part of his efforts to unpack President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030 that seeks to transform the country into a middle income economy.

Under an initiative running under the theme, “Engage the Gear: Unpacking Vision 2030 from the Grassroots”, the legislator has identified sex workers and homeless people from various places in Harare that will be trained in self-help projects and to be drivers so that they can fend for themselves.

Cde Zivhu told journalists yesterday that his aim was to take people off the streets.
“I have taken it upon myself to be the torch bearer for the President’s Vision 2030, which is a noble idea,” he said.
“By 2030, we want to ensure that people are earning a living from honest and honourable means. I do appreciate that some people got involved in sex work due to circumstances such as the loss their parents or were rape victims or were rejected by their families.

“We have identified 100 sex workers and homeless people from different areas of Harare and we are going to pay for driving lessons and assist them to get licences so that they can be employed, and as they are going through that process, we have contracted them to sell sanitary wear and diapers so that they can also earn a living.”

“Even if some of them fail their lessons, they are going to be given another chance to rewrite until they get the licences,” said Cde Zivhu.
