Glen View Polyclinic has received portable cabins from Aids Healthcare Foundation to provide additional consultation space at the polyclinic, which has become one of the busiest in Harare.

Speaking at the handover ceremony last Friday, Harare mayor Councillor Herbert Gomba said: “Under the ‘Residents First’ mantra, we are going to work with everyone who is willing to improve the status of our community. This property we have been given is very important to us.”

He praised the move by the foundation sayin it strengthens the long standing partnership it has with City of Harare.
The council was striving to capacitate hospitals and clinics so that they provide seamless services to patients.

“I would like to thank AHF for not hesitating to enter into a marriage with us, as marriage is usually lifelong and we are bound to face challenges together.

“This council is open to enter into any agreements, memorandum of understandings and partnerships as long as they address concerns from our residents. We have come up with a mantra that says ‘residents first’ so in whatever we are going to do we must see that the outcome benefits the residents. In health services we expect in terms of that mantra that whatever we do is going to serve the lives residents.”

City of Harare’s Health Services Director Dr Prosper Chonzi said support from AHF will improve service delivery.
“The cabins are now fully furnished, and they have also given us a doctor that is going to help in improving our service delivery here at Glen View Polyclinic, though he will be working at Mabvuku polyclinic most of the time,” he said.

AHF country director Dr Ernest Chikwati said the health relations between the foundation and the City of Harare will bring in more support.

“AHF is here to stay as we seek to improve the service delivery of our city’s health services department,” he said
“Our foundation has stationed a contractor at Mabvuku, who is currently working on the walkways there as we seek to improve the infrastructure of our polyclinics’ facilities,” he said.
