An MDC Renewal Team activist accused of intending to bomb MDC-T party headquarters at Harvest House in Harare yesterday said he has no confidence in MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai because he is “just a womaniser”.
Leonard Dendera (32) of Zengeza 3 in Chitungwiza said this while giving his defence after the State closed its case at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts.

Dendera was allegedly caught at Harvest House in the night with various articles for criminal use, including a hacksaw, a pair of gloves, 2kg of fertiliser, three empty bottles and two litres of petrol.

“MDC-T spokesperson Douglas Mwonzora accused me of wanting to topple Tsvangirai and asked me if I was not aware that he was the party leader,” he said.

“In response, I told him that the only thing Tsvangirai is good at is women. Mwonzora has a cunning character.”

Dendera accused Mwonzora of hitting a pedestrian in Nyanga with his car before driving away for the whole night to prove that he was not in that place.

Prosecutor Ms Francesca Mukumbiri closed the State’s case after calling five witnesses. Harare magistrate Mr Tendai Mahwe will deliver his judgment tomorrow.

Dendera is facing charges of possessing articles of criminal use and deliberately supplying false information to public authorities.

Ms Mukumbiri alleged that on April 25 this year at Harvest House, 44 Nelson Mandela Avenue, Dendera was caught with a pair of gloves, 2kg fertiliser, three empty bottles and two litres of petrol.

It is alleged that the following day Dendera made a false police report that he lived at No. 3 Chigunguru Road, Zengeza 1, when in fact, is correct address was house number 16265 Zengeza 3, Chitungwiza.

It is alleged that he also reported that he was assaulted by Mwonzora and Joseph Madziwa at Harvest House when that did not happen.
