The Edgars Fashion Extravaganza came alive in Harare on Saturday. The annual show marked the end of the fashion retailer’s six-week promotion that  has been running since September 16. Lucky winners from all the country’s provinces walked away with big prizes.
“In the six weeks the competition had been running, prizes were being given away in daily, weekly and monthly draws in all 25 branches around the country,” said Edgars marketing executive Rumbidzai Dzimba.

The promotions culminated in Saturday’s extravaganza that saw Masvingo-based Lynette Magare winning a trip to Seychelles.
Edgars officials called Magare on her mobile phone and she could not believe her luck.

“Are you serious? I am in Gweru right now and have no passport,” was all she could say.
Lucky for her, she is set to travel in February and has until then to sort out her travelling documents.

Dzimba said the promotion was part of Edgars’ efforts to give back to their customers whose support was making their business viable.
“The all expenses paid trip to Seychelles, which was the grand prize, was sponsored by Edgars. The winner and her partner got US$1 000 spending money,” she said.

Dzimba paid glowing tribute to the various sponsors that had come through to make the draws and promotions possible.
“This year we had about 25 companies that partnered us. Sponsors like Escapades, RTG were also generous enough and offered the winner a shopping voucher worth US$100 and accommodation in Harare before and after the trip,” she said.

The extravaganza saw the Edgars unleashing the latest trends through a fashion show. Models walked down the ramp in trendy clothing for people of all shapes and sizes.

“Because we are in the clothing and retail business, we want to be known as a leader in fashion. We are going beyond stocking and selling by showing our customers how to put together their clothes in a fashionable way,” she said.

Other draws from the extravaganza included the branch draws where 25 winners walked away with Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini smartphones, clothing vouchers courtesy of ZB Bank and Edgars, RTG holiday packages, cash prizes from EcoCash and Escapades.
