Mobile telecommunications have reached Gokwe South after NetOne installed a $600 000 booster enabling villagers to receive and make calls.

In an interview last week, the recently elected Gokwe-Kana legislator Owen Ncube said NetOne has set up a base station at Marapira Business Centre in Gokwe South and the network tower was installed at a cost of about $600 000. Minister Ncube said villagers from Marapira in Gokwe South have welcomed the setting up of a NetOne base station at Marapira Business Centre.

“We are very happy that our request was granted after we had pleaded with NetOne to install a base station to improve communication in Marapira area,” he said.

“People were suffering in terms of communication and were failing to reach their relatives since there was no network but they are now grateful to NetOne for the base station.”

Minister Ncube facilitated for the installation of the base station. He added that the cell tower will help ease network problems, which they have been experiencing.

“The cell tower will help ease network problems and the cotton farmers will now be able to receive their payments through the OneMoney wal- let.”
