A Mvurwi-based HIV and Aids care organisation last week got a boost when a local Standard Chartered Bank branch donated farm inputs worth US$800 to enhance the food and nutrition security of people who are HIV positive in the area. The donation which was made up of fertiliser, seed and garden chemicals will benefit 100 people who are part of the Mudiwa HIV and Aids Oganisation (MHAO) in the town.

Speaking at a handover ceremony, Standard Chartered Bank branch manager for Mvurwi, Mr Davison Chikwanha, said the donation was part of his organisation’s corporate social responsibility programme that sought to support underprivileged communities throughout the country.

“As a bank, we are very passionate about relationship building and we believe we are here for our communities,” he said.
“This is important and it facilitates our interaction with the community.”

MHAO founder Alderman Shereni Mazhambe thanked the bank for the donation saying such support would enable HIV positive people to look after themselves and desist from engaging in crime and prostitution to survive.

“This will go a long way in alleviating poverty in our community,” he said.
