Songstress Ammara Brown will this year join icon Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi to get the mountains reverberating in sound at Montclair Resort and Casino for the annual Tuku Golf Tournament and Show.

The fiesta which will usher in summer is billed for August 1.

Last year, the resort sought the services of the music icon, who is the face behind the growing Tuku Golf Tournament and Show that takes place twice a year in Nyanga.

Tuku has proved that devotion, dedication and determination are needed in the arts just like in any other profession.

Ammara Brown on the other hand has established herself as a force to reckon with on the music scene.

She has managed to garner a respectful following

With the two of them to provide entertainment for the night, there is bound to be fireworks of the sedate kind, bearing in mind the kind of clientele that patronises both musicians.

Montclair marketing manager, Tawanda Kwidini, the brains behind the Tuku Golf Tournament and Show, said this event was meant to market the resort town as well as to signal the beginning of summer.

“We know that Nyanga is very cold during the winter but we have strategically planned this event to coincide with the beginning of summer so as to encourage people to come without weather fears.

“We are encouraging people to come in their numbers so as to experience the beauty of Nyanga,” said Kwidini.

She added: “People should come and see for themselves the magnificence of places like Mount Nyangani, Mutarazi Falls and also embark on game viewing in the park.”

Mount Nyangani, the highest mountain in Zimbabwe, rises to approximately 2 600 metres above sea level.

Nyanga is primarily a tourist town that is popular for fishing, golf and mountain hiking.

There is bound to be a hive of activity within the mountainous misty atmosphere of the resort as numerous companies from around the country, professional and amateur golfers, celebrities, business people and sporting enthusiasts converge for this spectacle.

Professional golfers, Tongo Charamba and Emmanuel Hungwe, took part in last year’s edition of the tournament. The refreshingly green forests and mountains of Nyanga as well as the awe inspiring scenic view of the golf course itself provide the perfect backdrop for the event.

Tuku, who rarely disappoints when he is on stage, is set to dish out his signature performance.

His manager Sam Mataure said that the legend was going to be at his best because Zimbabwe is home.

“It does not matter how far and wide we travel around the world, coming back home and performing for our people, in our own backyard, is always memorable,” said Sam.

“The beauty of this country is amazing and I can attest to this because we have travelled across the whole country but even though, we still cannot have enough of the several wonders of this nation.

“I think it is important for Zimbabweans to start appreciating their own country before they even think of travelling outside the country,” he said.

He praised management at Montclair for taking the initiative to combine sport and music, saying it has the potential of seeing thousands of people travelling to tourist destinations.

“Take a look at the number of people who attend international sporting events like the FIFA World Cup.

“That is tourism and you will find that there will be plenty of music there because those two are very popular with people.” — The Sunday Mail/Herald Entertainment.
