How workers in shops can prevent Covid-19 infection
Herald Reporter
People working in supermarkets and shops that attract more customers are at high risk of contracting Covid-19 and should take more preventive measures to avoid infection, the Deputy Director, epidemiology and disease control and Team Lead Covid-19 surveillance operations, Dr Isaac Phiri has said.
He suggested that all employees working in such shops should;
use appropriate face masks at all times
sanitise or wash their hands frequently
sanitise their working spaces at all times, including tills and tables
ensure customers maintain a distance of at least one metre as they attend to them
check temperature on everyone entering the shops
sanitise hands after handling cash
undergo frequent testing for Covid-19
be on high alert at all times and be conscious enough to reprimand customers when they don’t take preventive measures
take every opportunity to give health education in shops at all times, including audio and video messages on prevention
